Spee-Dee® Multi-Axis 3500 Series Significantly Elevates Productivity

Sturtevant, Wis. — James P. Navin, President of Spee-Dee® Packaging Machinery, Inc., recently announced the company’s product line has been extended to include the Multi-Axis 3500 Series Servo III Digitronic® Auger Filler. “The Multi-Axis Spee-Dee Auger Filler is yet another milestone in our long history of creatively anticipating and fulfilling our customers’ dry product filling challenges,” he stated.

Timm Johnson, Vice President, Sales/Marketing, described the latest design. “The most recently installed Spee-Dee 8 lane multi-axis auger filler measures coffee, drink mixes or concentrates, cheese, soup and similar dry food products into rigid containers. Product is delivered from a common hopper with dual infeed flow,” he elaborated. “Each axis has its own servo motor to allow separate setup and to enable individual adjustment to compensate for head pressure differences. This keeps all lanes dispensing equally. If required for a particular production run, some lanes can be turned off.”

Johnson stressed that the corporation’s constant efforts to assist customers in maximizing production and decreasing waste precipitated the new layout. “By increasing the number of axis available to fill product, we have expanded our customer’s output on this particular line from about 50 cups per minute to 400 cups per minute. That’s an incredible jump in productivity!”

The innovative Spee-Dee® Multi-Axis 3500 Series Servo III Digitronic® Auger Filler can be configured to accommodate any number of axis from 2 to 12, with a distance between fill tubes from 2.5″ to 9.0″ on center. Operators control the multi-axis auger filler with a compact 10″ color touch screen interface featuring easy to read graphics, pop-up menus, and the ability to make adjustments while filling is in progress, without shutting down the line. In addition to showing the production rate in packages per minute, the touch screen displays the current status of the filling operation, such as “Run” or “Hopper Empty.” Allen-Bradley platforms are available, and, as with all Spee-Dee Digitronic Auger Fillers, there are no proprietary parts.

“Every Spee-Dee Servo 3500 Digitronic Auger Filler, no matter its configuration,” Johnson reiterated, “offers dry product packagers the benefits of servo drive equipment: a dramatic decrease in both downtime and the expense of replacement parts as compared to clutch/brake machines. In addition, servo technology provides repeatable, accurate filling cycles, reducing expensive product giveaway, and thus increasing profitability.”
